Have a sense of Humour!

Have a sense of Humour!

Having a sense of humour is one of the greatest assets in a person.

“A good sense of humour lies in your ability to see the lighter side of things”

No matter how old you are, or how wealthy or how your lifestyle is, life is always good when laughter is frequent. It is also considered healthier. Research shows that humour can help you cope better with pain, enhance your immune system, reduce stress and even help you live longer. Laughter, doctors say, is an important element of a healthy, happy life. In the last few years you would have seen many laughter clubs opening in India, people are trying to laugh out loud and maintain good health 🙂

Now, to be funny, you need to appreciate humour!

Why do you need to have a sense of humour?

  • A sense of humour can brighten ones’ life.
  • Laughing together with friends or family is a great way to connect and keep good relationships.
  • Humour can make kids more intelligent, healthier, have higher self esteem and better at coping with day to day challenges.
  • A sense of humour is what makes life fun! 🙂

How to have a good sense of Humour?

  • The best way to be funny is to be ‘fun’
  • Try not to take things too seriously
  • Take pleasure in and participate in the lighter aspects of life
  • Take out a few minutes every day to read some jokes
  • You could try and make yourself more open for silly, thoughtless laughs in good company of friends
  • However, please remember that humour has to be properly timed! Else it could get you into trouble!
  • Also, do not try to laugh at others expense
  • Don’t just utter anything that comes to your mind!  Any kind of smart humour is well received most of the time! So when you say something remember that your humour has to have the ‘smart’ element in it! It can be smart and silly, smart and weird or smart and inappropriate, but if it’s at least a little smart, you could get someone to laugh. So think things over just a little before you say them!
  • If you have some funny jokes or anything funny to say don’t be afraid to say it.
  • Never be afraid to laugh at yourself. Find humour in the most embarrassing moments in your life! Laugh it off!
  • When a person makes you angry, don’t show resentment, instead respond with humour. Life is too short to turn every personal insult into a battle. Moreover, laughing it off itself is a good way of getting even!

Before I end my article, I will leave you with something that I read which made me cry laughing.

A woman got on a bus holding a baby. The bus driver said, “That’s the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen!”

In a huff, the woman slammed her fare into the fare box and took an aisle seat near the rear of the

bus. The man seated next to her sensed that she was agitated and asked her what was wrong. “The

bus driver insulted me,” she fumed. The man sympathized with her and said, “Why, he’s a public servant and shouldn’t say things to insult passengers.” “You’re right,” she said. “I think I’ll go back up there and give him a piece of my mind.” “That’s a good idea,” the man said. “Here, let me hold your monkey.”

So, this New Year you could take a resolution to smile a lot, tell jokes and take every opportunity to have fun! 🙂

Just remember to have good timing, and try and be smart about it. That’s it really!  BE FUN!! That’s very important. If you aren’t having fun, you are missing a lot in life!
